Roland Paris

Professor - International Affairs, University of Ottawa

Roland Paris is Professor of International Affairs and Director of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa. His research on international security, peacebuilding and geopolitics has been published in leading academic outlets and has won several international prizes. He has also received four awards for teaching and three for public service, having taken several academic leaves to serve as a policy advisor in the Canadian government, including in its Canadian foreign ministry, Privy Council Office, Federal-Provincial Relations Office, and as Senior Advisor on Global Affairs and Defence to the Prime Minister. He is also an Associate Fellow in the US and Americas Program at Chatham House in London. His previous positions include director of research at the Conference Board of Canada, visiting fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC, and at Sciences-Po in Paris, and founding director of the Centre for International Policy Studies at the University of Ottawa. He also served on a group of international experts advising the secretary general of NATO.
