Chief Petty Officer Wilcox, born in Edmonton, AB, joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in 1994 as an Armoured Crewman. After basic training in St-Jean and further training in Gagetown, he was posted to Lord Strathcona's Horse in Calgary and deployed to Bosnia in 1996. He later remustered to the Navy as a Hull Technician, serving on HMCS Regina, HMCS Winnipeg, and HMCS Protecteur. Promoted to Master Seaman, he taught firefighting at Damage Control School Galiano and deployed to Afghanistan with CANSOF.
Upon returning, he was promoted to Petty Officer 2nd Class and oversaw hull maintenance on HMCS Calgary. Subsequent roles included Platoon Commander and Standards Warrant Officer at the Canadian Forces Recruit and Leadership School and Senior Hull Tech on HMCS Regina. Promoted to Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class, he managed a naval modernization project in Ottawa and worked on sexual misconduct monitoring for Operation HONOUR. In 2020, he became School Chief at the Canadian Forces Training Development Center, and in 2024, he was appointed Formation CPO at Canadian Defence Academy.
CPO1 Wilcox holds an MA in International and Geo-Political Leadership from Royal Roads University and was recognized for his work in gender integration and leadership. He enjoys military life alongside his supportive daughter.
