Phillipe Beaulieu-Brossard

Professor, Canadian Forces College

Prof. Philippe Beaulieu-Brossard’s purpose is to empower leaders in shifting mindsets in national security organizations to better set conditions for evolution and address complex situations in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and across NATO members and partners. Philippe fulfills this purpose by leading the strategy and innovative leadership elements of the Joint Command and Staff Programme (JCSP) for OF 3-4 and of the National Security Programme (NSP) for OF 5 at Canadian Forces College (CFC) since 2017. Philippe fulfills this purpose globally by leading the Archipelago of Design (AOD), a nonprofit organization since 2020.  At AOD, Philippe is leading a global independent community of 51 national security professionals and a dedicated team of 7 staff generating accessible resources in innovative leadership. This includes mobilizing a crowdsourcing approach to designing transformative games called the hop-on hop off model. This approach proved successful, resulting in the critical and popular appraisal of Breakthrough, a mystery role-playing game taking place in the Canadian Arctic in 2040, and its sequel, Shadows of Byzantium, taking place in Istanbul Turkey in 2040. Following this success, Philippe is co-producing and designing Project Inner Alliance, a game to develop responsiveness to diversity and inclusivity for human security, readiness and operational effectiveness. Philippe graduated with a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of St-Andrews (UK) in 2015 and lives in Leslieville, Toronto with his wife, daughter, son, and too many games.
