Michael Murphy
Buchanan Postdoctoral Fellow, Queen’s University
Michael P. A. Murphy is the Buchanan Postdoctoral Fellow in Canadian Democracy at Queen’s University, where he is affiliated with the Centre for International and Defence Policy and the Department of Political Studies. At the CIDP, Dr. Murphy has led several projects on emerging technology and security issues funded by the Department of National Defence through the MINDS program. For the year 2024, he is a Digital Policy Hub Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation, pursuing a Mitacs-funded project on “Canada in a Quantum World.” He is the author of two books, over forty articles, and numerous book reviews and chapters receiving over 1900 citations. Dr. Murphy holds a PhD from the University of Ottawa, where his dissertation received the 2022 Joseph De Koninck prize, and was previously appointed as a Banting postdoctoral fellow at Queen’s University.
