Dr. Michael E. Lynch, PhD
Research Associate Professor, Strategic Studies Institute - U.S. Army War College
Dr. Michael E. Lynch is a historian and retired U.S. Army logistics officer, serving as Research Professor of North American National Security Affairs at the Strategic Studies Institute, US Army War College. He holds a PhD from Temple University. His publications include “Landpower, Homeland Defense, and Forward Stationing in the Indo-Pacific” in Journal of Indo-Pacific Affairs (July 2024), and a co-edited volume (w/Howard Coombs) titled, International Competition in the High North (US Army War College, 2024). His other published works include: Come As You Are War: US Readiness for the Korean War (USAHEC, 2019) and Edward M. Almond and the US Army: From the 92nd Infantry Division to X Corps (Kentucky, 2019), which received the Army Historical Foundation’s 2019 Distinguished Writing Award for Biography.
Dr. Lynch lives in Boiling Springs, PA with his wife Machele, who is the Director of STEM Education at St. Patrick School. They are the proud parents of CPT Catherine Hubbard (Army Engineer), stationed in Germany with her husband John (Army Engineer); Elizabeth, a marketing professional in Lititz, PA; and 2LT Joseph Lynch (Army Nurse), training enroute to Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii. Dr. Lynch is a two-time Ironman triathlete and enjoys travel, reading, and accompanying his dog Roscoe.
