Karin Grimm

Adviser (VNC), Human Security Unit - Office of the Secretary General - NATO Headquarters

Ms Karin Grimm has 20 years of professional experience in the areas of the Women, Peace and Security agenda; rule of law; security sector governance and reform; and gender. Deployed by the Expert Pool for Civilian Peacebuilding of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, she is currently an Adviser (VNC) to the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security and Human Security.

In her previous positions, Ms Grimm worked in various capacities for UN Women and UN Action against Sexual Violence in Conflict in Mali and Myanmar covering a broad range of peacebuilding and humanitarian issues. Before working for the United Nations, she was with the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF) for 11 years managing, implementing and supporting gender and security sector governance and reform programming in West Africa, Indonesia, South-East Europe and post-Soviet space in cooperation with a wide range of governmental and non-governmental security sector actors.

Ms Grimm holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
