Catarina Caria
Political Analyst and Advisor to the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Portugal
Catarina Caria is a foreign affairs analyst, op-ed writer, seasoned public speaker and a podcast host.
She worked as the programme manager for Europe & MENA at the Institute for Economics & Peace - the world’s leading think tank on peace metrics. Prior to that, Catarina worked with the United States Department of State, the Dutch Government and UK FCDO in public affairs, trade & investment, strategic communications and outreach.
Catarina has global experience spanning across 4 continents, engaging with a multi-stakeholder network, and managing projects at the intersection of business, governments and media.
In 2021, Catarina was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship. As a visiting scholar at the University of Virginia, Catarina pursued research on the implementation of the United States Strategy on Women, Peace and Security.
Catarina is on the advisory board of multiple national and international organisations and she was the youngest appointed member of the strategic council of CIP - the largest confederation of businesses in Portugal - shaping foreign direct investment attractiveness and competitiveness in the country.
In 2023 she was nominated as a Young Leader to join an official Portuguese delegation to New Delhi at the invitation of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Catarina is an invited lecturer and a proud author on #WomenPeaceSecurity for the FCDO and the Portuguese Ministry of Defense.
Catarina holds a Master’s Degree on Governance, Leadership and Democracy Studies and a Bachelor’s in Political Science and International Affairs.
