Kim Richard Nossal is emeritus professor of political studies in the Centre for International and Defence Policy at Queen’s University. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto in 1977. From 1976 to 2001, he taught at McMaster University before coming to Queen’s to head the Department of Political Studies. At Queen’s he also served as director of the School of Policy Studies and director of the CIDP before retiring in 2020. He is the author of a number of works on Canadian foreign and defence policy, including Charlie Foxtrot: Fixing Defence Procurement in Canada (2016) and The Politics of War: Canada’s Afghanistan Mission, 2001–14, co-authored with Jean-Christophe Boucher (2017).
